Choosing the right fundamentals training is the first & the most important step in your future cosmetic tattooing career. In order to do microblading or any other permanent cosmetic tattooing procedures in Virginia, an artist must first take a Permanent Cosmetic Tattooer course from an approved & licensed school, like Re:Pigment.Me Beauty Studio & Academy, that consists of 90 hours of theory and practical work, before you can even take the VA state test to get your VA state license. Our course covers all the areas and hours required by law and is approved by the Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (DPOR).

Many instructors and teaching institutions offer certification courses which claim you will be able to legally perform permanent makeup services after attending their courses. But depending on the state, city and county, the laws and regulations may vary. In the state of Virginia, you must have a “Permanent Cosmetic Tattooer” license to legally perform permanent makeup services. We do encourage completing certification courses (which we also offer) to expand your knowledge and skillset in specialty areas, but these courses will not allow you to legally practice permanent makeup in Virginia.

The student must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age and should have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent for the fundamental program.

Full tuition balance is due 14 days before the first day of the class. In order for your hours to be reported to take the State Board licensure exam, there must be no remaining balance on your student account. If the remaining balance is not paid 14 days prior to the class start date, your seat in the class can no longer be guaranteed and the $1,000 booking fee paid will be forfeited. It can not be transferred for a future class.

Due to our school policy and Terms of Enrollment, all tuition payments are non-refundable & not transferable. All contracts are binding. No refunds will be offered on booking fee or tuition paid. Your instructor is here to teach you to your highest level of success, and part of that is requiring a commitment from you; that you are fully invested in this training program.
A rescission is permitted within 3 days of Training commencement.

If you would like to switch to a different class date for any reason, the new $1000 booking fee must be paid. Booking fees are not transferable. No exceptions!

Upon graduation of your course, the Re:Pigment.Me Beauty Studio & Academy will submit your completed hours to DPOR. You will then create an account with the examination company, (currently PSI), and they will direct you on what is needed to take the licensure exam. The examination fee is currently $86, which is non-refundable and non-transferable and is valid for 1 year after date of payment. This fee must be paid at the student’s expense.

For beginner’s classes you will need to provide the models for each of the hands on practice days. One model can do more than one procedure (brows, lips, eyeliner). Your models ideally should not have prior permanent makeup on the procedure area or it has to be faded enough. You will need a minimum of 1 model you will perform all 3 services on, such as brows, lips & eyeliner, or you may bring 3 different models for 3 different services. There is a $50 additional fee per model, per service to cover table set up. You can have your model pay or you can pay the fee yourself. The school will only provide Demo models for Instructor’s demos & for Advanced Classes.

Although there are no course requirements prior to starting class, you must obtain your Bloodborne Pathogens (The fees are about $30 and take about 2 hours online) and CPR/First Aid certifications during your course, and at your own expense. These certifications must be obtained from our list of approved vendors and are required before you can proceed with our practical training during your course.
You will also need to provide proof of either a Hepatitis B vaccination or sign a waiver form. It is strongly recommended that you obtain the 3 shot HEP B vaccination series if you have not previously been
